Write clearer email subject lines

Reviewed

Lead with the occasion

Give guests a specific reason to open: a new menu, a birthday invitation or an upcoming event. Examples for the fictional Luma Bistro include “Welcome to Luma Bistro” and “Something new on the menu at Luma Bistro.”

Add detail in the preview text

Use the preview for a date, featured dish or other detail. Avoid repeating the subject, inventing urgency or promising an offer the email does not contain.

Compare meaningful results

If your audience and platform support a useful test, compare two subject lines with similar content and recipients. Review clicks and completed bookings or orders alongside opens, which privacy features and automated activity can distort.
